Your experience with the CFs and your professional relevance to the theme of CFs:

My grantmaking portfolio at the Mott Foundation includes the development of community foundations and community philanthropy, both in the U.S. and on a global level. I have also facilitated Mott support to community foundation development in Russia and Ukraine during 2000-2006.

Key characteristics and information about the CFs and community philanthropy in your country:

More than 700 CFs in the U.S., first one founded in 1914, total assets over $50 billion, annual giving over $4 billion.

A LOT of work being done to drive social and economic community development. Proactive leadership to stimulate community improvement, partner with others and leverage resources is becoming increasingly common.

Area of your particular interest in the CF development/ CF management/ practice (please specify if this is a theme where you are interested to learn more, bring your own expertise or both):

I am most interested in how community foundations engage residents in their geographic service area, in what ways are they inclusive and bring people into community improvement initiatives and the community foundations’ processes not just as donors or recipients, but full-fledged, equal participants.
