Your experience with the CFs and your professional relevance to the theme of CFs:

I coordinate the activities of one of the Community Foundation of Ukraine. We engage the community in the implementation of social projects, regularly provide grants competition for NGOs and initiative groups, and help them in various issues of professional social activities. Foundation is in constant dialogue with the community – a public opinion poll, publishing reports and articles, communication via the Foundation’s website and other on-line resources. The representatives of the Foundation regularly participate in Community Foundations Forums, studies, conferences in Ukraine and abroad, share experience and provide common initiatives with colleges.

Key characteristics and information about the CFs and community philanthropy in your country:

Community Foundation in Ukraine serves the community in three main roles: a leader of the community, engine of philanthropy development and a tool of reallocation of local resources to solve most important problems and needs of the community. That’s how we act. In Ukraine, establishment process of community foundations began not so long ago (in late 90’s). Nowadays in Ukraine successfully operate more than 25 CF in big cities and small villages. The big impact to CF development in Ukraine is made by ISAR “Unity” within “School of Community Foundations” programme. They support of running activities and encourage the founding of new CF in our country.

Area of your particular interest in the CF development/ CF management/ practice (please specify if this is a theme where you are interested to learn more, bring your own expertise or both):

We always try to find new forms and practices of cooperation in community. But the most interesting for us is to see aspects of planning sessions in CF, PR tools, cooperation with donors, financial planning, and dealing with problems. Of course, we hope to see Youth Bank in action and some current events of CFs if it is possible.
